How Does Cosmetic Botox Injections Work
The botulinum toxin is injected into the muscle that controls and forms the deep vertical lines in your forehead and the scowl lines between your eyes.
Since Botox prevents the muscle from contracting the results can be amazing. Botox injection is an effective wrinkle treatment and can even be used in place of filler treatment in some instances.
Botox is not indicated for people under 18 years or older than 65 and is administered through small injections into the muscles of your face. Local anesthetic is not normally used and the pain is that of a pinprick.
Your Möcelle Edan cosmetic physician or nurse reconstitutes the Botox before injection by adding the an appropriate amount of sterile saline to the vial.
Some individuals have a small amount of bruising after Botox injections and it may therefore be a wise precaution not to have it done at least 4 days before an important appointment.
There is really no recovery time, and you can be in public as soon as the injections have been delivered.
The effects of Botox are NOT permanent and repeated injections will NOT make the muscle less active.
WHAT IS HYPERHIDROSIS?
To sweat is normal and the principal reason one sweats is to maintain body temperature ie. eliminate excess body heat. Hyperhidrosis is excessive perspiration (sweating) or sweating beyond what is necessary to maintain normal body temperature. Hyperhidrosis can have a major impact on one's quality of life. Sweaty hands, feet, or armpits are embarrassing at the least and can increase anxiety and stress in both occupational and social situations.
The most common form of hyperhidrosis is focal (i.e. restricted to the palms of the hands, soles of the feet, the underarms, or the face). It is estimated that 5.8 million Americans have problems related to focal hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis usually begins in childhood or adolescence. It is not a psychological disease but rather a condition in which the nervous system stimulates excess sweat production in response to normal everyday levels of anxiety.
Botox is an effective hyperhidrosis treatment. In particular, Axillary Hyperhidrosis (sweating of the armpits) may be treated with BOTOX injection. BOTOX when injected into areas of the skin that produce excess sweat, effectively reduces sweat production for many months. BOTOX injections to the sweat-producing areas of the armpits can frequently provide relief for as long as 6 months. BOTOX injection are also an effective remedy for palmar hyperhidrosis (sweating of the palms of the hands) and relief can last many months.
Botox is the most popular injectable and non-surgical cosmetic enhancement for reducing age wrinkles. It is essentially a highly purified protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum which operates to block the impulses from the nerve to the muscle, relaxing and reducing the lines that are caused by frowning and smiling. Results generally lasts 3-4 months.
