What is endoscopic Brow Lift (forehead lift)?
A browlift (forehead lift) is a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure that corrects aging of the upper part of the face above the eyebrow just as a facelift corrects signs of aging of the lower face and neck. Signs of aging include frown lines, forehead wrinkles and drooping of the eyebrows and skin around the eyes. A brow lift (forehead lift) is designed to re-position sagging eyebrows that can cause a person to look tired, sad or angry. Endoscopic forehead lift or brow lift involves the making of two or more small incisions at or behind the hairline and a small endoscope is used. The eyebrows are then re-positioned to a higher level, resulting in a more natural, relaxed appearance.
Who is a candidate for brow lifts?
A brow lift is most commonly performed on individuals between 40-60 years old to minimise the visible effects of aging. People with inherited conditions such as a low, heavy brow or furrows lines above the nose, can achieve a more alert and refreshed look with this procedure.
Are there any risks in having a brow lift?
Fortunately, significant complications from brow lifts are infrequent. Every year, many people undergo successful brow lift surgery without major problems and are typically very happy with the results. However, like all surgical procedures there are risks and benefits. Your Möcelle Edan plastic surgeon will discuss these with you during your consultation.
What is the difference between endoscopic brow lift and a mid-face lift?
Endoscopic browlifts have the ability to raise or lower the brow and address the upper and part of the lower eyelids, stopping at the bony rim (called the zygoma - Zi go ma) below the eyes. If a midfacelift is also performed, the surgeon is able to provide middle face rejuvenation -including any remaining portion under the eyes and the area of the face level with the nose down to the teeth.
What happens after brow lift surgery?
Once your eyebrow lift surgery is complete, the scalp incisions will be closed with stitches or clips and the area will be washed. Gauze and an elastic bandage may also be applied. The next step after eyebrow lift surgery is simply to leave the skin to heal. The healing process for eyebrow lift surgery is rapid, with typical patients able to return to work within a 1-2 weeks. You should be able to shower and shampoo your hair within five days after surgery, or soon as your bandage is removed.
What results can I expect?
A brow lift can restore a more youthful look to the area above and around your eyes. The muscles and tissues that cause furrowing or dropping are removed or altered to raise the eyebrows, smooth the forehead and reduce frown lines and crows feet
