SKIN NEEDLING: A Treatment for Scars & Stretch Marks

Skin Needling is a procedure which uses a roller covered with numerous tiny needles to treat depressed acne scars and reduce the appearance of stretch marks and lines. The needles pierce the upper layers of skin up to 2 millimetres (depending on the needle used). This process works by stimulating collagen formation and by providing a clear channel for topical gels and creams to be absorbed more effectively through the top layer (epidermis) of skin.
The most exciting feature of Skin Needling is its' safety advantages. Skin Needling can be safely performed on both darker and lighter skins, including skins that have been previously lasered or had dermabrasion.
There is no risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, as the melanocytes, which reside in the basal layer of the epidermis,
remain, like the dermis, intact during Skin Needling. This is the major distinguishing safety feature between Skin Needling and other invasive procedures that are used to treat deep lines and depressed scars, ie laser resurfacing and deep chemical peels.
